Graduate School

1. Q: I graduated 3-year university. Can I enter a graduate school in Japan?
A: Most of graduate schools in Japan have a system of "individual qualification screenig". So universities in Japan open the door to students who graduated from 3-year university.

2. Q: Can I enter a graduate school which I majored different subjects?
A: Basically graduate schools are the places to investigate by yourselves not to learn. So it is difficult for you if you don't have basical knowlege of the subject which you will study. But if you studied by yourself before, there is a possibility.

3. Q: Do I need to take exam of JLPT or EJU?
A: It depends on graduate schools. But as for humanities courses of national universities, many universities request N1 level of JLPT.

4. Q: What will be required as documents from the university which I graduated?
A: "Graduation certificate" and "academic transcript" are certainly required. Some graduate schools require "Degree authorization certificate". Depending on universities, it requires recommendation letters from 1 or 2 professors.

5. Q: When I apply for a graduate school, shall I need to have a contact with a prosessor?
A: It depends on graduate schools. So please check after you deside the school.

6. Q: Do I need English for entrace exam of graduate schools?
A: All graduate schools don't require English but it will bes advantageous if you are good at English esspecially in science courses. Some graduate schools request you to submit the result of TOEFL or TOEIC.

7. Q: When I apply for a graduate school in fine arts, is it important Japanese ability?
A: It is important to express your work in your own words. And also professors said that it is important to communicate with prosessors and people around you. Interview test is also in Japanese and some graduate schools have Japanese essay as an entrance exam other than a practical exam.

8. Q: If I became a research student, can I certainly enter the master's program of the university next year?
A: It does not necessarily mean that you can enter the master's program. It is important that you tackle exactly the subject in which you runs short during you are a research student.

9. Q: I worked after I graduated from university. Does it become disadvantageous to enter a graduate school?
A: No. Experience during you were working won't become disadvataeous. It is a good idea that you consider the theme with using the experience when you were employed efficiently.

10. Q: When I apply for a graduate school, what is the most important thing?
A: It is important that you get interested and continues doing your best by yourself. You have to contact with a prosessor, read books, write a research program document and consider various things by yourself. Therefore "perseverance" is required.

University

1. Q: I haven't taken EJU yet. If I didn't take EJU, can I enter a university?
A: It depends on universities. Some universities, you can enter without taking EJU but some universities but most of universities requires EJU results. If you want to enter a Japanese university, we recommend you to take EJU.

2. Q: I took EJU in science course. For my case, can I take exams of humanities course such as faculty of business administration or faculty of economics?
A: Some universities give you a chance to take a exam of business administration or economics even if you didn't take general subjects of EJU. But it is not a good idea because most of universities won't give you a chance.

3. Q: I studied in science course in high school. I want to take exam of humanities course such as faculty of business administration or faculty of economics. Can I change from science course to humanities course?
A: When you take exams of faculty in humanities course, many universities require the result of general subjects(geography and history, politics and economics) in EJU. You may change if you have confidence to study a comprehensive subject seriously for one year by the taking-an-examination lecture of KCP.

4. Q: When I apply for a university, what dol I have to prepare documents other than application forms?
A:
  • 1."Graduation certificate" and "academic transcript" of the high school which you graduated are definitely required.
     ⇒These documents should be the ones issued within 3 months before the day of application. Copied documents are not valid.
  • 2.A recommendation letter(depending on faculcies/universities)
  • 3. The essay of the purpose of study, study plan etc. (depending on faculcies/universities)
  • 4.Financial Support Statement (some universities do not request)
     ⇒Documents which wrote how to prepare the tuition and living expenses for four years in the university.
  • 5.Checkup report (some universities do not request)
Caution
There are many cases that 1 and 2 should be translated in Japanese or English if it is not written in Japanese or English.
You have to check the application handbook because required documents are different by universities.

5. Q: Do I need English for entrace exam of universities?
A: It depends on universities. You have to check the application handbook how to check you English proficiency. Kinds of test as follow.
  • ①To submit the score of TOEFL or TOEIC.
     ⇒There are also universities which decide the minimum score.
  • ②To have an original examination of universities.
  • ③To check English proficiency by interviewing.

6. Q: Is "interview test" important? In interview test, what will be questioned?
A: Every university thinks an interview as important. You will not pass if you could not answer question at all, even if you could get a good score in EJU. You will pass if you could get a good impression in interview test, envn if you could not get a good score in EJU. Therefore, we are also making a strong effort to the interview. In interview test, you will be asked you purpose, what you will study in the university or what you will do after graduation etc.

7. Q: What is important when I apply for universities?
A: Needless to say that studying special subjects is important as well as studying Japanese.
If you repeat excercise according to the university which you want to enter, you can get good marks in the actual exam. And more important than anything is to continue to do your best in several months or more. Therefore, you need "perseverance" and "mental control".
